Background and Education Mr. Slota was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 3, 1962. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He attended the Georgetown University School of Law in Washington, D.C. from which he obtained his Juris Doctor degree in 1987. During law school, Mr. Slota was awarded a position as Associate Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal, graduated magna cum laude and was awarded the annual award for academic excellence. Bar Admissions Mr. Slota is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and all state district and appellate courts. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Areas of Practice Mr. Slota has focused his practice primarily in the area of Medical Malpractice and other complex injury and death claims. His experience includes the areas of Automobile Accidents, Products Liability, Premises Liability, Employment Discrimination, and Commercial Litigation.
Mr. Slota is a longstanding member of the Million Dollar Advocates forum. Mr. Slota currently serves as Secretary and Director of the Montgomery County Bar Association, the third largest county Bar Association in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and will serve as President of that association in 2007. Mr. Slota is a Director of of the International Society of Primerus Law Firms (http://www.primerus.com/). Mr. Slota is a Member of the Pennsylvania State Bar Association where he serves in the Association's House of Delegates. He is also a member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the Medical Malpractice Section within that organization. Mr. Slota has also been a member of the American Bar Association and is a member of the National Lawyers Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Slota has authored numerous legal articles and been a frequent lecturer on personal injury law and trial practice. In 2003, he served on a panel discussing the issues of Tort Reform and Medical Malpractice. In 1992, he co-authored an important article on the liability of HMO's for substandard patient care. In 2003 he lectured in Montgomery County on Pennsylvania Product Liability Law. Mr. Slota has also been interviewed and featured in the publication City Business on medical malpractice issues. Appointments Mr. Slota has also been selected by other attorneys on numerous occasions as an arbitrator to hear and decide important injury claims. He has also been appointed by the courts of Pennsylvania to serve as guardian ad litem in important claims involving injuries to and rights of minor children.
